Neck lump

Hi all,

I’ve had a lump on the side of my neck(lymph area) now for 10 months. I mentioned it to my gp last August and they shrugged it off. Went back this week as it has grown since then and they’ve referred me for an ultrasound.

it used to be you could only feel it, and very slightly see it in the right light but now it’s visible. Still only around 8-10mm. My gp said it was moveable, but I feel like it’s just the skin on top that moves the lump itself doesn’t. No pain until about a week ago but now it gets tender, especially when opening and closing my jaw. Gp said it was probably a lymph node but it should of gone away within a few weeks not be worsening after 10 months. No weight loss but I’m constantly fatigued, having to nap mid afternoon daily, always running hot and sweaty.

I guess I don’t really know what the point of this ramble was but I’m honestly so scared and have no one to talk to about it.

  • Hello Princessbear

I'm sorry to hear that you've had ongoing concerns about a lymph node for quite a while now. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

It's good to hear that your GP has now referred you for an ultrasound and hopefully you won't have to wait too long for that appointment.

We know that for many people waiting for tests and results can be a worrying time. If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can.

I hope that you have some news soon Princessbear. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
