Possible tumour on toe.

Hi everyone.

So I’ve had this very slow growing growth on my second toe for a very long time 8+ years. I’ve had it looked at by a gp around 3 times and all have sort of just brushed it off and said nothing to worry about but never actually said what it could be. Anyway I made another appointment after it’s grown again and finally got to see the dr today. The lump itself is hard as bone, quite “nobbly” and it’s around 2cm length depth and width if that makes sense. It’s not perfectly round. Dr kinda looked at it poked around and mumbled about getting a X-ray for possible tumour. Obviously now I’m panicking I have my X-ray next Tuesday but from what I’ve read online X-ray isn’t the best imaging to use to detect tumours? Can anyone advise me what happens next. All he said was that he will do a referral for radiology (X-ray) and said we need to find out what this is. I’m just confused now on what happens after my X-ray as that isn’t going to tell him what it is? After thinking about it for a bit I think a biopsy would be best?
thanks if you’ve got this far lol!
sorry I’m really worried now he’s said that.

  • Hello Help1234

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing concerns about a growth on your toe. It's good to hear that the GP has organised some initial investigations. Based on the results of the xray the GP will then be able to decide what next steps may be appropraite in terms of a referral for further testing or to see a specialist.

If it would help you to talk through your situation with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can whilst you're waiting for more news.

    Best wishes,
