Given preliminary results with no discussion - Polyps

I’m 29 and was referred for a colonoscopy, they found a 10-19mm polyp which had white markings but felt like I was rushed out as it was the end of the day so didn’t get a chance to speak to anyone. It is a pedunctulated IP polyp which was found in the sigmoid. There was no discussion on whether it looks suspicious. The only thing I was told was 4-6 weeks wait for the results and the notes state suspected cancer take off pathway, I asked someone on the way out is this meant I had been removed off the urgent pathway and they said yes I think so. Bit frustrated that there wasn’t anyone to go through the outcome with me. Did anyone have this written on their results or have white markings on their polyps?

  • I'm sorry to hear about the polyp that was found during your colonoscopy BoBoPink and for the worry this is causing.

Your GP may be able to tell you more and answer your questions about being taken off the suspected cancer pathway but hopefully some of our members who have had similar findings during their procedures will be along soon to share their experiences and advice.

Waiting for results is always a testing time but I hope some of the tips and advice we have on our website will help to ease your mind whilst you wait.

We're thinking of you BoBoPink and will have our fingers crossed for good news.

    Kind regards,

  • hi, I had a colonoscopy at the end of April, I had to ring up for my results, the receptionist rang me back to tell me I only had a tiny polyp and a small pocket of diverticolitis,, it would have been nice to have more explanation ,, I take it I'm not required to have anything done but I'm not sure  :(

  • They told me 5-6 weeks and on action plan it said I would need follow up with consultant but it’s frustrating as the gp was telling me I would be too young to have polyps! I think follow ups should be better because if not you’ll just left wondering! How long was it after your colonoscopy that you found out the results?

  • Hi,, I left it 3 weeks then I had to ring up and ask,, not good as I was left worried,, then I was just told  a small polyp found and a small pocket of diverticolitis,,  don't know what I have to do now, ?  hope you are ok x

  • Still not heard nothing it’s been 6 weeks now, have they done a follow up with you regarding your results? x
