Awaiting CT results so nervous

Hi my names Lauren just wondering if anyone has similar stories and what was the outcome for yourselves please!

I am 33 with two young children so I am petrified!

I’ve had a persistent cough for 4 months and swollen lymph nodes in both sides of my neck and breast, first my GP referred me as non Hodgkin’s is in my family and I have symptoms such as sweats, nausea, extreme fatigue, and loss of appetite! I was referred to ENT first who sent me for an ultrasound which looked normal and they referred me to heamatology/oncology but I wish they had done a biopsy and I wish I spoke up for myself but I was that scared and overwhelmed I froze in my appointment!

anyway I have just seen the haematologist and requested a scan so I have just had a CT scan and I’ve just had bloods done but I’ve got to wait until next week for my results so not long but still a painful wait!

but I’m confused because it’s pre booked as a telephone appointment but will they surely not ring me before if it’s bad news to tell me to come in?

i get my results on the 5th June this Wednesday I am counting down the days!

would they usually ring before that pre booked date if there was any concern although my results are only a week after my scan so hasent been to much of a wait!

I would appreciate anyone else’s comments because this time feels so lonely and so hard to speak to anyone! Thankyou

  • Hello Lauren

I just wanted to post to wish you well ahead of your results appointment on Wednesday. We know that for many people waiting for news can be a difficult time and it's understandable that you may be feeling overwhelmed by things at times.

If you think it may help to talk with one of our nurses before you speak with the specialist,  you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

Do let us know how you get on later this week.

    Best wishes,
