Significant issues and errors by GP

I  was told on 22 May I needed an urgent biopsy (probably precautionary but even so all referrals say suspected gynae cancer).

Since then I've experienced so many issues with errors and omissions on the form and refusal to rectify. Hospital saying they only have referral for follow up not biopsy, GP confirming online and via a text with letter that urgent referral is sent then days later saying the hospital have only actioned the follow up not biopsy under 2ww then saying it hasn't been sent despite confirmation it had.

Promises to call back then deny this was said several times.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm already stressed and anxious to max level worrying about it all (diagnosed adhd and anxiety and had to refer myself for counselling because of it). Now just errors every step of the way making it far worse.

Just wondered if it was just me?

TIA x.

  • I'm really sorry to hear about the problems that have occurred with your referral Fairydust75. This must be very stressful, and frustrating.

I really do hope this gets resolved soon but if problems persist, do see if you can speak to another GP about this, or you could make a complaint with the practice manager of your surgery. You may be able to get assistance from The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), who provide confidential information, support and advice on health-related matters.

Some of our members have encountered similar issues with their referrals Kerry, so you are most certainly not alone, and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

    Kind regards,
