Chest Xray

Hi all so i attended A+E a few months ago, due to vomiting and being unwell. I soon recovered, but have been informed of the following results on my Chest x-ray . I have no idea what it means and am under no follow up.

Does anyone think i need to so something ??

Heart size and mediastinal contours are within normal limits.
There is no overt evidence of dense consolidation, lobar collapse, pleural effusion or pneumothorax.
The visualised bony thorax is intact.
There is a area of increased opacity overlying the right 5th posterior rib, which is likely composite shadowing. An apical view is advised for clarity.

EEDCXR - An apical view is advised.

  • I'm sorry to hear you had to go to A&E a few months ago Lizzabe. It must have been a very scary time but I'm glad you have recovered and are now feeling o.k.

Unfortunately no-one on the forum can interpret medical results, but if you speak to your GP, they should be able to explain what this all means and if any further follow up is needed.

If you'd like to get some advice from our nurses, they're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040. They're very easy to talk to and will do all that they can to help.

    Kind regards,
