Cervical Colposcopy concern

Hi

So last year I had my annual smear that came back hpv positive and some abnormal cell changes, I went for a colposcopy and the lady said it was CIN1 and to go away and come back in 12 months. I had my smear done on the 14th (which the nurse noted cervical etropion) and results have come back high risk hpv and severe CIN3 abnormal cells. My colposcopy isn’t till next Thursday.

I’ve been having all sorts of issues the last year and actually had a blood test for ovarian cancer back in March which was fine. I’m feeling very overwhelmed.

Has anyone had anything similar and ended up being diagnosed with cervical cancer?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Romancereader7 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear your latest results showed you have high risk HPV and severe CIN3. I know this must be worrying but I hope this information we have about HPV and abnormal cervical cells will help ease your mind.

Quite a few members within our community have had the same results, so you are not alone Romancereader7, and hopefully some of them will stop by when they can to share their experiences with you soon.

We have a team of cancer nurses that are very knowledgeable in this field so if you'd like to discuss your concerns with them, they are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I know this is a lot to take in, and the next week is going to be very tough, but we are thinking of you and wishing you all the best with your colposcopy.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi I have had my colposcopy today after a high grade (severe) dyskaryosis cin3 and positive for HPV., I too was anxious and worried, the cells I saw being removed were pre cancerous, I may have missed the if there were other cells with the iodine use but hopefully there were none there I'm more calm and less worried than I was before today. I will find out what the biopsy comes back with in about 6 weeks. Do things that distract your mind, seeing certain words like severe makes it seem really bad and scary, fingers crossed for you
