Worried

51 years of age, GP referred for transnational scan due to unexplained bleeding that has been going on for a while, symptom I chose to ignore and didn’t realise it was a concern.
Scan showed 8.5 mm thickened endometrium echo texture is heterogenous, referred for ? Biopsy’s specialist review under 2ww.
Can’t help but worry, my mother died from lung cancer 3 weeks ago and my father is waiting for prostate removal due to cancer.
grieving for my mum and worried for myself , head is all over the place. Should I be worried am I just panicking??

  • Hello Alfie2024

I'm so sorry to hear about the recent loss of your Mum, that your Dad is currently waiting for surgery for prostate cancer, and that you now find yourself waiting for biopsies after a recent ultrasound. It's perfectly understandable that you're experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions at the moment.

I know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty is difficult. Add into your situation your Mum and Dad and it's natural that you may be feeling overwhelmed by things at time.

It can often help to talk to someone about your concerns and how you're feeling and I wonder if you may find it useful to chat with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays).

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment with the specialists and they will be able to give you some reassurance.

Do keep in touch Alfie2024 and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
