Hi!
My boyfriend found a lump in my breast last month, which I thought was nothing/my menstrual cycle, and it has grown significantly since and has persisted despite my periods coming and going. I saw my GP last week who examined me and didn't say much in the way of what he thought it was, but he definitely did identify a lump and some asymmetrical segmented thickening in the affected breast. Because I am 22, I thought that the appointment would be a case of being advised to "watch and wait" and come back in a few weeks if it persisted. However, after he examined me, he referred me to the breast clinic under an Urgent Suspected Cancer (2WW) referral.
I rang the clinic on Friday and was told that I had been triaged straightaway and it has been accepted as an urgent USC referral, and that I should be hearing from them for an appointment as soon as they can give me one.
I would like to ask, what are people's personal experiences at the breast clinic? How does the day look? Is there anything I can do or bring to make things easier? I have read some information online about how it goes, but I would like to hear some personal experiences. I am autistic and I struggle with going into things blind, so I like knowing as much as I can before an event occurs as it helps me to prepare. Thank you for reading :)
