Thyroid nodule thy3f

Hello,

I have a thy3f that’s being removed In 2 weeks with half my thyroid. I just wondered if anyone has any symptoms if you had the same thing or could it just be coincidence….

random sore throats ear pain (same side as nodule)

itchy skin now and again right over the affected area!

do they have flare ups or am I being paranoid??

  • Hello Ellamac40zz,

I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your thyroid surgery in 2 weeks time. I hope that it all goes well for you and that you recover quickly.

Hopefully you will hear from other members of our community who have had similar symptoms including the sore throats, the itchy skin and the ear pain you describe. The itchy skin over the affected area must be incredibly irritating in every possible way so make sure you mention this - as well as the other symptoms - to your doctor if you haven't done so already.

I hope that you will be able to connect to other members of our community who have had a thyroid nodule thy3f and that they will come along and share their stories with you. I had a little look on the forum for you and found for example  's thread with the title Thy3f lump found. Waiting for thyroid lobectomy - this member posted a year ago and seemed to be in a similar place at the time so it might be worth dropping her a line if you feel like it to see how they are doing a year on and what was the outcome of the investigations in their case.

Best wishes and don't hesitate to come back here to let us know how the surgery went and what exactly you found out,

  • Hi Ellamac40zz,

yes I experienced similar with sore throats especially and slight itching. Hoping you have a good recovery from surgery and wishing you all the best for 2 weeks time.

  • Hi, thank you! What did your results turn out to be? X

  • From my partial thyroidectomy it was stage 3 follicular variant of papillary carcinoma. I then went on to have the completion and more was found in that side. Only 5% of thyroid nodules do turn out to be cancerous though, I was just unlucky. How are you feeling, it’s completely normal to feel apprehensive before surgery but honestly you will be fine. I recommend a v shaped pillow.  Best of luck

  • Oh dear I’m sorry to hear that, how are you now?
is the op painful? What’s the recovery like?
I had my first scan and fna back in June, the results were ok but said they’d check again in 6 months. So went again earlier this year, and results show thy3f so they want to remove it.
Apparently my thyroid levels are ok, but I’m always tired, random sore throats and itchy skin on my neck. Also loss of smell. Might be coincidence, thank you for replying x

  • Hi

Yes, I've got a Thy3F nodule and same thing - itching and ear pain, and also jaw pain.  Also random sore throats although the consultant has told me this is due to silent reflux.  Can I ask how long you waited to get your surgery after 3f finding?  I have been removed from a cancer pathway and given a routine follow-up appointment which is not until July and I wondered if this was the norm for others?

    Thanks

  • Hi, so I had my 2nd fna in February and had to wait until early April for those results.my op was booked for 3rd of June. But today I’ve just had a letter to say it’s cancelled!! No idea til when
