Prostate help - PSA has gone down but hospital want to do a biopsy. Not sure if this is the right decision

I had a psa of 4.7 test after a week of restless nights and difficulty peeing. I've had an inconclusive mri due to my metal hip replacement affecting the image. My latest psa has gone down to 3.6. And I am no longer getting up in the night. The hospital want to do a biopsy,  but I'm not sure that's the correct decision,  any advice please

  • Hello Grey,

It's good news that your PSA has gone down to 3.6. It must have been frustrating for you though to have an inconclusive MRI due to the metal hip replacement affecting the image. I am glad you are no longer getting up in the night and I hope that this means you are getting better quality of sleep. Even though all this is positive news, if the hospital are wanting to do a biopsy, I would if I were you follow their recommendation and have this biopsy done just so you know exactly what is going on. Don't hesitate to ask the medical experts at the hospital any question that springs to your mind, for example you could try and find out more from them as to why the biopsy would be beneficial and I hope that their insights and expertise will reassure you that this is the right decision for you.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been in your situation before and that they will come along and share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
