Throat - dark red patch behind uvula

Hello

I am waiting to see max fax but looking for any advice. I’ve had recurring throat, sinus, general ENT infections or inflammation for around 6 months and a cough for around a year. Lungs all clear, spiro clear, not asthma.

I have at the back of my throat a very prominent dark crimson red patch which looks as though it’s spreading down from up inside I guess my throat / sinus area. I’ve had it for at least 5 months (first spotted at Christmas)

Do I need to be pushing hard to get this sorted or is it likely to just be a blood vessel or something?

slightly nervous.

I do have photos but can’t figure out how to post them

thanks

  • Hello Jenjen5790,

I hope that you won't have to wait too long for your maxillofacial appointment and when you see the specialist it will be the perfect opportunity to bring up this dark crimson red patch at the back of your throat. Do mention all the details to the specialist, that you have had it for 5 months and make sure you show it to the specialist so that they have a good look at it and examine it closely. Unfortunately no one here on the forum will have the medical expertise to tell you what it might be and we do not allow photos to be posted here but make sure you talk to a medical expert about this and that you show them this patch - they will be in the best position to tell you more about it and hopefully will be able to reassure you.

I hope that you manage to speak to someone soon and that it turns out to be nothing to worry about. Everything crossed for you!

    Best wishes,
