Hard non-moving lump upper right chest

I noticed a very hard (like bone?) lump on my right chest - sort of half way between my breast and collarbone about 7 weeks ago. It is very hard and doesn’t move. About 2/3 inches across and an inch thick. I also have shoulder pain on that side - not sure why or if it’s related.

i had a GP appt a week ago - they did an urgent referral to breast clinic and I should be seen by the end of next week.

I just can’t stop thinking about it. I wondered if anyone could share experiences of what to expect at the clinic - and if they had a similar lump / symptoms…what was the outcome?

id really appreciate any shared experiences

  • Hello KRose,

You did well to get this hard lump on your right chest checked and it's good that the GP is being thorough and that they have referred you to the breast clinic and that you will be seen by the end of next week. It's good things are moving fast as this means you will not have too long to wait hopefully to get some definite answers. It's normal to be worried about it and I hope that you will hear from the experiences of others here who have been referred to the breast clinic before and that they will share with you the different steps involved based on their personal experiences. Our website has useful information on your breast clinic referral and I thought I would also share with you information from Breast Cancer Now on what happens at a breast clinic appointment which outlines in detail what to expect at your breast clinic appointment.

If you wanted to talk to one of our cancer nurses about what might happen during your breast clinic appointment, you can get in touch with them on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you will be seen very soon and that it all goes well and you get definite answers and it turns out to be nothing of concern. Do keep us updated if you get a chance on what you find out.

    Best wishes,
