U3 THY3a.

I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule and after ultrasound and FNA it has been graded U3, thy3a. I have been offered 2 options. One to just remove and the time frame is about 2 months. The other to watch and wait and rescan and FNA just over 3 months. If I choose to do that I assume I would be placed on a waiting list after results so a longer process but with the opportunity to retest! I have been told its 30% chance it will be malignant.

I Was also due to traveling with my son. This was supposed to be a trip of a life time. The consultant said he thinks i should take the wait and watch and rescan after my holiday. So in 4 months. This adds time to the process which he says hes not worried about. However, i am. I want to take his advice but my vonfidence is on the floor. Thos way I may also have more concrete results. But if they are positive I will have delayed the process.

  • I'm sorry to hear about the tricky position you find yourself in at the moment Sasah.

Making decisions like this can be very difficult, especially when they clash with personal events you have been looking forward to for so long.

I do hope some of our members will be along soon to offer their thoughts and advice but if you'd like to talk through your options with one of our nurses, they'll be available from Tuesday onwards on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m. They are very easy to talk to and will do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you Sasah and hope you're able to come to a decision soon.

    Kind regards,
