Colonoscopy Being Arranged

Had my phone call from the consultant today and they’re wanting to do a colonoscopy. Date and time TBC but the nerves are setting in. I wanna know what’s going on but at the same time I’m scared of them finding Cancer.

Current symptoms: Blood in stool, constant tummy discomfort, excessively gassy.

Tests done so far: Stool sample which FIT was >400 and Blood tests which showed anemia and possibly inflammation.

  • Hello GothMamma

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently dealing with some ongoing health concerns and that you're now waiting for a colonoscopy. It's understandable that you're feeling worried but hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for the appointment.

I think that many of our members here will agree that this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. It's natural for our minds to wander and this can leave us thinking about all kinds of scenarios. What I will say is that worrying won't change the outcome. It will leave you feeling more anxious and upset between now and your appointment day so try to be positive if you can.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).

Keep in touch GothMamma and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi GothMamma I was in a similar position to you with a high Fit score. I was diagnosed with cancer but that’s not to say yours is. I know how awful the waiting is but I have to say since my diagnosis everything moved very quickly and once I had a plan I felt better. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you but do get in touch if you just want to talk.
