U3 thy3

Hi,

I have just been diagnosed with thyrode nodule. U3 thy 3 but no letter a or f given. I was set to go travelling and my surgeon is condfident I should go and have rescan when I return. I have a son so feeling overwhelmed wether I should go with him or stay and just go ahead with removal as early intervention. I feel my consultant is very Conservative and if it is cancer a few extra months aren't going to make any difference. But that is hard to accept.

  • Hello Sasah

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health concerns which are now suggesting that further investigations/treatment may be appropriate. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious but it's positive to hear that your Consultant doesn't have any immediate cause for concerns.

You mention that you're planning to go traveling. I don't know if this will influence your decision or not but it's worth talking to your travel insurer, if you have insurance in place, to see if they would need any confirmation from your Consultant that you're fit to travel ahead of your trip. If there is any kind of health problem whilst you're away then, you would already have spoken with your insurer about this particular problem.

It's natural to have concerns and questions. If you think it may help to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can.

Whatever decision you make Sasah, I hope that things progress well for you.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn

  • Hi Jean, thanks for your reply. I would like to edit the post as it hams down my options. I was also given the option to ho straight to surgery and this is also what I think alot of plotter consultants suggest. The possibilities of it being cancer is 30% so quite high.
