Mole removal

Hi there

So after attending my GP regarding a mole on my back, one nurse wasn't too concerned after having a look, another nurse also had a look aswell that was in the room at the time. i was sent  away and advised to check for changes every 2 weeks. A different nurse 2 weeks later looked at the mole and referred me. I had my appointment today I was told the mole should be removed. It was suggested that if they had time they would remove it today but the clinic was so busy. Is this because it was urgent or does this happen? I'm now going on the 17th of this month and worried sick...I was so anxious I don't feel I asked any questions or took in the reason for the mole removal and not monitoring?

  • Hello Mandy50

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently attended a hospital appointment and that you're now waiting for a mole to be removed. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

Try not to worry about the fact that the clinic would have removed the mole earlier this week if they could have. Often a clinic will do this kind of procedure on the day if they can as it means that the patient doesn't have to come back for a separate appointment. However, it's not always possible and sometimes an appointment to carry our the removal has to be made at another time.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. It's good to hear that the clinic was able to give you your next appointment relatively quickly and that you won't have to wait too long for the removal procedure. From the posts that we're seeing here on the forum, we know that many people are waiting a while for dermatology results so it's worth talking with the team at your appointment and asking how long you may have to wait for news.

In the meantime, if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can.

Do keep in touch Mandy50 and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
