Staying positive

Hi, I'm a 76 year old woman with a complex medical history.

After 3 bowel screening tests and a positive qFIT I was referred to Colorectal Consultant.

I was seen last Wednesday and received an appointment on Saturday for a colonoscopy,  this will be carried out on 4th June.

I have had the procedure carried out before ,on one occasion I passed out on another it was stopped as I had a twist in the bowel.

I am trying to stay positive but it's gonna be a long 4 weeks...

  • Just stumbled on this thread kind of by accident. I’m browsing this forum because my dear Grandma, aged 64, got diagnosed with colorectal cancer last week. I’m researching like a mad woman right now on just about every cancer forum on the internet, even though lots of people say not to do too much research because you can run into a lot of information that may terrify you. Anyway, I read through this entire exchange and it really touched me. Both of you seem like such lovely wise women. Eastendgirl I hope everything works out for you and your colonoscopy is easy and clear. Bluegirl, I am so sorry you are going through this and I hope everything is as easy and painless as it po ibly can be with relativity to your situation. ️

  • Hiya Supermachine123, so sorry to hear about your Grandma.  Thank you so much for your kind words.  I take each day as it comes.  I am very much aware that I am living on borrowed time, but it has made me appreciate so many things that I took for granted in the past, and one of those things is being healthy and strong.  I don't think that any of us ever think that we will become ill or, as in my case, terminal.........it is a surreal experience.  I know that it is only words, but my thoughts and prayers are with your Grandma, you and all your family.  What I would say is please don't give up hope, because cancer is not an automatic death sentence these days, there is a lot that can be done for people who have this dreaded disease, and where there is life, there is always hope, take care, xx
