Colonoscopy,ct and MRI

Hi,

I had a colonoscopy 3 weeks ago and Dr said I had a blockage because plenvu(laxative) didn’t work.

week forward had a ct colonoscopy,
Dr said that there could be gas over the liver or bowel over it so sent me for MRI today!,

( this was an MRI only of the liver)

Very scared and confused!

mum died 7 years ago of colon cancer so my colonoscopy was a routine check up and I suffer very bad constipation.

thanks in advance.

  • Also can anyone tell me how long they waited on MRI results

  • Hi Edel,

It must be such a stressful time for you as you are waiting for all these test results and have had a colonoscopy, CT and MRI in such a short space of time. Waiting for test results is not easy and I thought I would share with you our helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for news. I hope that you find out more soon and that the constipation issues will improve. As mentioned on our website MRI results normally take 1 to 2 weeks to come through but don't hesitate to ask your doctor or nurse how long it will take to get them. Don't hesitate to contact the doctor who arranged the test if you haven’t heard anything after a couple of weeks.

I am so sorry to hear that your mum died of colon cancer 7 years ago - it's normal to be worried given your family history but bear in mind that your symptoms can be caused by many other things other than cancer so try not to anticipate the worst if you can and stay well away from the temptation to look anything up on Google as it will never give you accurate answers and may well make you more anxious.

Many members of our community have had similar tests and investigations done and they will hopefully be along shortly to share their experience with you. I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern!

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you so much Lucie,

I still haven’t heard anything………I was told after the ct scan gas could be lying over the liver or bowel could be lying o er the liver?

so I can’t stop thinking about it.

thank you again for the tips I’m out doing plenty of walking.

    kind regards

    Edel.
