Please help, Nausea and no appetite, High calprotectin

Hi,

I really need some advice and help,

My partner has been experiencing nausea, loss of appetite, bloating and pain in abdomen.

He had a colonoscopy which was clear apart from one polyp. He had a stool test which showed high Calprotectin levels. He was given steroids which only temporarily helped but he still had no appetite 24/7.

We are currently waiting for an MRI,

Does anyone have any idea what it could be, my father passed from pancreatic cancer a couple years ago and I fear it may be the same thing due to the symptoms.

My partner has lost a lot of weight and is getting really down about not being able to eat. Especially as he is Type 1 Diabetic and when he goes into a hypo he has to force himself to eat.

Any advice/suggestions are welcome.

Thank you,

  • Hiya.  First of all, may I say how sorry I am that you and your partner are going through this.  I would also like to reassure you that there are many illnesses that mimic the same symptoms as cancer, so please try to remain positive.  I know this is easier said than done, especially as you say that your partner has the same symptoms that your father had with pancreatic cancer, but honestly, it really could be many different things.  Take one step at a time.  Good luck to the both of you, xx
