Mole on back

Hi my husband has a large itchy mole on his back, he saw his GP in January past who took quick look and said its fine, I took a pic of it yesterday to show to the pharmacist to ask for a cream for the itch, its driving him insane, she took a look at the pic and told me she is very concerned and that he needs to see a doctor ASAP, I've tried to get him an appointment but there's none left as usual, I told the receptionist  what pharmacist had said and she more or less said, what would a pharmacist know, if doctor told him in January that its ok then its nothing to worry about, he wasn't actually worried about it before, the doctor had reassured him it was ok, he just wanted it removed to stop the constant itch, but now we are both worried, I'm going to try and upload a pic that I took yesterday..

  • Hello Hobble, I'm sorry to read that you are concerned about a mole on your husband's back. You mentioned you were going top try and upload a photo, I just wanted to remind you that we don't allow members to upload images to the site. However I will give you some information that might help. Our website has a section on identifying moles and advises when it is important to see a GP. It is worth remembering that most melanomas don’t give you symptoms like pain or itching. And some non cancerous (benign) moles or abnormal patches of skin can be itchy. So having some of these changes on their own doesn't mean it is definitely a melanoma.

I hope that helps and good luck getting it checked out.
