Endometrium thickened and measures 19mm

I’ve had a TV scan and they have sent me a result of this. Has anybody else been through this? I’m 46 and since Dec 2023 my Menstural cylcle has changed but i’m not going through the menopause. Any comments would be greatly appreciated Thankyou

  • Welcome to the forum, Bick78.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation.

Changes in menstrual cycles and findings like a thickened endometrium can be worrisome, but it's positive that you're seeking information and support. Your doctors are the best people to address these concerns as they'll likely be able to provide personalised guidance based on your medical history and the specific findings of your scan.

In the meantime I hope others who have had similar experiences will come along shortly to share their stories with you and offer insight. Also, if you feel like asking some questions to our team of nurses, they'd be happy to talk things over with you Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040.

Once you know more, please come back and give us an update if you find a moment, Bick78. We're keeping our fingers crossed everything will work our fine for you.

    All the best,

  • Hi Thankyou so much for your response. I’m actually quite shocked at how laid back my situation is being handled. My consultant hasn’t even spoken to me and referred me to benign gynaecology as a routine appointment. I’ve had to contact my own GP to expedite my referral. I don’t understand why I’d just be left especially with it measuring so thick. I’m 46 and my cycle changed in December 23. My cylcle is extremely heavy and I don’t leave my house on those days. I’m also anemic and have an iron deficiency which has been the same for years. I’ve been tested for von willebrands which was negative. I have no fibroids or cysts. This is from a scan I had on the 24/04/24. Any advice would be appreciated as I’m really worried. Thankyou

How are you doing. I found before I went into menopause that my periods were so bad that hated leaving the house. This went on for about a year, then they just slowed till they stopped at 50. Could be that ur heading this way aswell maybe

Hi and Thankyou for you reply. I’m ok but still not been spoken to by anybody about anything apart from a letter I had in my online hospital account from my consultant saying she’s not concerned because of my age! I find that quite unbelievable to be honest. My periods have alway been terrible I’ve had a really really bad time with them but they’ve got worse in heaviness & pain since December last year. I feel like because I’m not post menopause it’s not being taken seriously and there’s not a thing I can do except wait. Apparently my GP can’t do anything either. Very frustrated.
