Scan/transvaginal scan

I had an ultrasound and Transvaginal scan last Friday, was told results would be 10-14 working days, got a call from my GP to say they’ve found something but unsure what, in the report it says-

uterus with fairly heterogenous myometrium echoes. 8mm fibroids were noted. Endometrium measures 3.7mm and contained mild traces of fluid collection. Fundus of the endometrium appeared irregular.  Please consider referring to EBC

Left ovary was positively identified. It demonstrated a 16mm simple cyst.
Right ovary was not identified
Mild free pelvic fluid collection evident on ultrasound today.

does anyone know what EBC referral is as I can’t find out anywhere, also has anyone gone through similar? Any advise is greatly received.
thank you

  • I'm sorry to hear something has been found on your scan results Marsh, and for the worry the possible EBC referral is causing.

Unfortunately I don't know what this is but I can see you've made a post about this in our nurses section of the forum, and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

If you'd like to discuss this with them in more detail, you can give them a call tomorrow on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

We're thinking of you Marsh and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k in the end.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you so much, they’ve replied so I do feel a bit more positive, thank you for taking the time to reply, take care x

  • Helloooo.

I had a trans vaginal scan last Monday after over a year of irregular bleeding, heavy periods, constant aches and pains of all levels. My GP put it down to my age/size (I'm 42, not particularly overweight!) I ended up having to take time off work as I was in so much pain at times, and eventually I was referred for a TVS.

The sonographer didn't give me any info really, just that ovaries look fine, but there is something that looks like fibroids, but that it's not a fibroid. She said it could be adenomyosis, but she would need a second opinion. Adenomyosis would explain a lot, but I wish I'd asked more questions as when I asked about fibroids, she kind of ushered me out saying it's not fibroids and she would do a report.

This forum is a big help for people navigating their way through scans etc, as I don't feel I am any the wiser after my scan.

I hope you gey an update soon xxx
