Mantle cell lymphoma

Hi everyone! Recently been diagnosed (18th Jan), and still I’m puzzling the experts as to why certain things are happening. Scan after scan, test after after test and still got nowhere. If there is anyone on here with MCL can I pick your brains ? You never know something might pop out. Thankyou x

  • For younger/fit patients it’s usually Nordic or R-CHOP/R-DHAP with auto SCT after. For older or less fit patients bendamustine with rituximab without transplant is common. Rituximab maintenance infusions every 3 months for 3 years is common after you reach remission to prolong it. My husband is midway through Nordic with an auto SCT planned. He’s coping really well with the treatment now that the gastritis has got better. He’s more tired than usual but trying to gently exercise on his good days. He started just before Christmas and is due to finish his 6 cycles beginning of April. He’s been told he can do his next round of cytarabine using a remote pump at home so he doesn’t have to have an inpatent stay.

  • Thanks for your reply, have been advised partner will have six sessions one a month , 6 hours each time, just wondered if he can still go swimming?

  • if he gets a PICC line in he will probably have to stop swimming while he has it (you have to protect it while showering). We were also told that swimming was a bit too high risk for infections unfortunately. My husband has been mainly walking for exercise. He usually cycles but was told he couldn’t do that because of bleeding risk if he fell off while his platelets were low.
