Skin cancer

Hi I notice a small dark brown spot on my neck in a large mirror at work . I had never noticed it before . I went back through photos and the first time it was noticeable was August last year .
my gp sent me 2 ww met the dermatologist and he said it had changes in the cells around it which only children usually have . Wants me to have it removed .
when I log on to the nhs it says I’m on a waiting list with August dates . I have rang the secretary and she said it’s marked as urgent 2 ww bug can be up to 9 weeks . I’m really worried as I’ve been having burning pain in my left side of my neck .
has anyone else experienced anything like this waiting time or the mole appearing and being told of cell changes usually only seen I. Children ?
Thank you x

  • Hello Absiz

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been advised to have an area of skin removed following the discovery of cell changes. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

We know from other posts shared here on the forum that there are delays in dermatology services across the UK and this is for several reasons.

It may help to talk through your concerns with one of our nurses for some advice and support. If you'd like to do this they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that the procedure goes smoothly and that the results bring reassurance.

    Best wishes,
