I was referred to ENT last year for on and off ear pain and because a grommet that had Been put in my ear 3 years earlier which had not fallen out yet.
I Saw ENT in January.and while I was there I mentioned about a balance problem I had Benn having for a long time. After an assessment I was reffered for a Head MRI with and without contrast. I had the MRI just over 6 weeks ago I have not been told the results yet, but 3 weeks after having the MRI the MRI department called me to say I had another MRI appointment this time for MRI internal auditory meatus both, with and without contrast. I wasn't told why this new scan was requested which left me feeling a little anxious. I went to the scan a few days ago, but they couldn't do it as my blood tests were out of date by 1 month and when I asked how long it will take to get another appointment he said it would be quick as it was urgent.
I am now very anxious my new MRI is now 24th of April and ENT appointment is 10th of may. My question is would the doctor request an urgent MRI of the IAM if the first scan was normal. I also have very bad tinnitus which is another sympton of acoustic neuroma aswel as permanat pain on top of my head that never goes away which is generally mild, but can get so painful that I can touch the top of my head.
I have a long term illness and was diagnosed with CFS many years ago as well and on gabapentin for widespread neurological pain.
Maybe I'm just over thinking things, but it's very difficult to stop all these worst case scenario thoughts from constantly running through your mind. I don't really have any one to talk to about it as I don't want to put the worry on others for some thing that might turn out to be nothing
