Colonoscopy with inflammation markers in blood

I have a colonoscopy booked for next Tuesday and I’m terrified. Before this I was telling myself that the it was probably just hemaroids, I’ve had them before and thought I had internal ones now but the GP couldn’t find anything on a digital and referred me for the FIT test and blood test. While we expected this to be positive for blood since this was my only symptom it came back as very high, 400 and with inflammation markers raised as well. Now I’m very afraid that it is something more serious and I’m going into panic mode. Anyone had a similar experience to share for support?

  • Hi Yorkshireborn,

Im in the same situation. booked in for colonoscopy
fit 155, inflamation in sample and borderline anemic and low iron.
I have red blood that coats the poo, not on wiping and no pink drips.

started over a year ago, on and off, thought must be piles since I had them with a pregnancy a few years ago.
now it’s like every poo or at least 2x a week
Gp says can feel a little something small upon examination, might be something to do with it,
I have very heavy periods and I would imagine the anemia is coming from there, I get tired that week

No bowel changes, apart from going 2x a day instead of everyday, but I think that might be down to the nerves, upped water intake and eating more fibre.

No pains, sometimes get the cramps feeling just as I realise I need to go, but I think that’s also quite normal and only picking up on these things because I’m looking for signs.,

    I’m 39.

I’m keen to know who else chips in.

  • Thank you for the reply. I’m trying to stay positive at moment but it’s hard.

I have bowl changes now but I didn’t before so it’s likely nerves playing havoc with my digestive system so I’m trying not to read too much into that.

I’m a year older than you by the way.

I’ve been scanning the forums for goods news stories even with really concerning symptoms and there are plenty to be found, the bowl cancer web site is very helpful as you’d expect but I just really need people to talk to right now as I’m so afraid.
