Melanoma scare before & worrying again now

Hi everyone

I had a mole removal 3 years ago, I was referred under the two week wait scheme and it was ‘suspected melanoma’. The dermatologist took one look and said it was likely to be stage 1 or 2 so I was prepared during the wait for results. Luckily it was melanoma in situ and there was no follow up other than to report any skin changes to the GP for another referal.
about 8 months ago a pimple like lump came up on my leg, it was really small and somewhat pink with a brownish outside, it now looks more like a regular mole but the inside of it is lighter and it doesn’t look like my others, however it isn’t glaringly obvious. Is it worth getting checked out?

  • Hi Kay,

Yes, it's always advised to get a new mole or lesion checked out, especially when you have a history of skin cancer. Hopefully it will be benign. I've had 7 further moles/lesions removed since my melanoma diagnosis and they were all benign.
