High platelet count

I posted recently about a swelling in the supraclavicular area. I had an ultrasound and nothing found which is fantastic but I've just received the blood test results I also had and my platelets count is high. Just over the normal range. Also have low ferritin. GP surgery said re do blood test in a month then make an appointment. Bit concerned about the high platelet count as when I googled that, cancer was what came up.  Does anyone ha e any experience of high platelet count?

  • It's great to hear your ultrasound didn't find anything untoward about the swelling in your supraclavicular area Bibbidybobbidy, although I'm sorry that your blood test results have shown your platelet count is high.

    I know this must be worrying but it's good to hear your doctor is going to keep an eye on this and hopefully when you redo the test next month, it will show it has gone down.

    Waiting for that next test will be tough, I know, but hopefully some of our members who have contended with a high platelet count will be along soon to offer their support and share their experiences and advice.
