Suspected Pancreatic Cancer- Ultrasound

I’m 35M. GP found some mass in my pancreas after an abdominal ultrasound, said it’s suspected cancer and put me on 2 week referral.

A year ago I had unusual frequent bowel movements, went to the GP but they found nothing. For about 2 months now I’ve been having pain in the right hand side of my stomach, bloating that gets worse and painful after eating. This made me visit the GP. They ran tests and did abdominal Ultrasound. Said I’m pre-diabetes and there is a tumour in the Pancreas. Other test results ruled out Pancreatitis.

I’ve done a CT scan and waiting for the result. I’m still hopeful but if it turns out to be a diagnosis as suspected what can I do to make things move faster i.e treatment. (I have a 1 year old child and wife and they need me alive)

The NHS has delays and my symptoms are worse than 2 months ago when I first saw the GP. I’m now having same issue on the left of my stomach (pain, bloating and back ache)

Tl:dr Tumour found on Ultrasound, NHS delay with diagnosis, feeling worse with time.

What can I do to get treatment fast and give myself best chance of survival. I’ll appreciate any tips.

Thanks,

  • Did they call it a tumour or lesion? My mum has a lesion on her pancreas found incidentally during abdominal scan for pain post cancer treatment for a gynae cancer. She just goes for a scan yearly now to keep an eye on it and was told 20% of population have pancreas lesions but most never know because they don't have scans . She had an MRI to determine whether it t was cancerous or not. When did you have scan and when did they say to expect results? I'd maybe chase up consultant secretary for the results. Best of luck

  • Thanks for the reply, they referred to it as homogeneous change in the head and tail of the pancreas. I did the scan a week and half ago.

I’ve chased them, there is backlog with the radiologist so the result is not out yet.
