Suspicious lung nodule after colon cancer

Not sure if anyone can offer me any support or help, I had a low anterior resection last March 2023 to remove a large cancerous polyp, this surgery was curative, I had clear markers and no spread so was not put on any chemotherapy after surgery. I have a temporary ileostomy which I am awaiting reversal for.  At the beginning of March this year a had my 1st years surveillance CT scan, 3 weeks later I have an urgent 2 week referral to my colorectal team as they have noticed a new suspicious looking 7mm nodule on my lung!  I had another 2 nodules picked up on my first CT scan but these were checked 2 months later and are benign.  They are treating this one as suspicious as it's new and looks different to the others. I went to the meeting alone, I found it a lot to take in and I have been left with loads of worry and questions.  I think they are concerned it could be metastasis of the colon cancer and it was mentioned about having sabr targeted radiotherapy.  I was told this on the 26th March and heard nothing since but was told someone would be in touch shortly.  I have been driving myself mad from googling way too much!  Has anyone experienced anything similar or anyone had sabr treatment.  I am hoping they are being extra cautious because of my history and am very thankful for that.  I am 47, married with two young girls 15 and 11, trying to stay strong and positive for them but it's very hard.

  • I'm really sorry to hear about the suspicious nodule that has been found on your lung Ann.

I hope some of our members who have been in a similar position or have had SABR targeted radiotherapy will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to discuss any of your questions or concerns with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're really easy to talk to and will do all they can to put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

I know this must be such a stressful time for you Ann, but we are sending all our support your way and will have our fingers crossed you hear from someone soon.

    Kind regards,
