Good morning,, I've just had a telephone consultation, I was told my fit test came back at 200. is this a bad sign ? I have to have a colonoscopy in the next 2 weeks, any advice ? x
I've had somethig similire this week, waiting to be referred it's a case of waiting to see what it is, hope you are OK, it's worrying to see this as i did on my results report
I would say its not necessarily a bad sign considering results can go into the very high hundreds and beyond and as you've probably been told its much more likely to be something far less sinister that is causing your symptoms so I would keep an open mind but you are doing the right thing getting it checked out by having a colonoscopy .
The FIT test number just tells you how much blood, if any, is in your stool. A result like 200 indicates there is quite a bit of blood in your stool, but it doesn't necessarily indicate anything about what is causing it. It could be many things, including IBD and cancer, but also diverticulitis, a polyp, an ulcer and probably lots more I don't even know of.
Hi Harriet I replued to you on another post - not sure if you have seen it. Just nice to talk to someone else going through the same worry. I have had three FIT tests and the number is going up all the time so I’m very worried. I’m waiting for a date for a colonoscopy too - just want to get it over and done with. The waiting is awful isn’t it? Have you got a date yet for yours?
Hi - my first one was 112, second one was 129 and the last one I had done privately because I was hoping it had gone down was over 200 - they didn’t give me an exact number just said over 200. So it’s going up all the time which is scary. I also have bowel wall thickening - seen in a scan and I found out today that my Nan passed with Colin cancer so all in all it’s not looking good for me - so very worried. Was your fit score as high as mine. I’m in the 2ww so expecting a colonoscopy in the next couple of weeks.
