Colonoscopy

Hi hope someone can guide me here at my wits end and suffer severe health anxiety. Had transvaginal for post menopause bleed, then MRI as they couldn’t access thickness due to bowel gases. Now today have been told that have to have a colonoscopy due to fluid and bowel gases being present in lower bowel. Totally at breaking point, went for tiny one off vaginal bleed and now I’m being investigated further for fluid showing up in bowel, can’t sleep, struggling to focus and everything around me is suffering because I’m on this Merry go Round. Any advice or experiences would be massively welcomed xx

  • Hello Wendy2024

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently undergoing some investigations following a post-menopausal bleed. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned about what all these results and tests may mean for you.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult and it's natural that we think about worst-case scenarios. Try to keep a positive mindset if you can. Worrying won't change the outcome but it will leave you feeling much worse in the meantime. Try to avoid searching the internet for information as much of what can be found online is inaccurate, outdated, or aimed at spectacular stories. Again this won't give you answers but will instead leave you feeling more worried.

We know that for some people it can help to talk through their concerns and questions. If you think it may help to talk with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays). I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your appointment and the team will be able to give you some reassurance when you see them.

    Best wishes,
