FIT test 100

Morning all

I'm stressing out, so figured I'd post here with like-minded people!  I'm 68 years old and have had horrible sit pain for approx 6-7 years, the pain comes from just inside my bottom left side, it only hurts when I sit. Have had it checked previously & been told they can't feel any abnormalities, have also had Pundendal nerve tests but they were negative. Anyway, enough was enough last week I was sick of being in pain every time I sat down, I went to GP and seen lovely lady doc, she had a feel round and exactly where the pain came from she said she could feel a tendon (I think that's what she said)...She also said she'd refer me to colorectal as they obviously have more specialists who can look at it. She said in order to be referred everyone has to have FIT test regardless,  so we went and did this. So surprisingly my test came back a positive 100....so I'm now stressing as I've got to have colonoscopy.. Is this a high reading for my age?  I've not lost any weight, I haven't had blood in my poo, I do get constipation as I'm on strong cocodamol daily, I also take Naproxen daily too, along with Omeprazole. Once my tum decides to poo, I do get cramps but I think this is hard stool working it's way round.... Only got my results this morning so stressing quite a bit.

  • Hello ScouseV

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health problems. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned about things at the moment.

A raised FIT result can be caused by a number of different problems so please try to remain positive. The good news is that it sounds as if your GP is being supportive in trying to get the root cause of this pain. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for the colonoscopy and the team will be able to give you some reassurance on the day.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).

Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
