Still waiting

I’m still waiting for the results of a MDT meeting held on 17th March. My GP has told me I should hear any day now. This was to decide what the treatment plan will be for my possible kidney cancer. The waiting is definitely the hardest part. My GP has written again to the Urology department. I have also made a private appointment with the same consultant. We had an appointment to see the same consultant which was cancelled by them. They then wrote up that I had been seen.

The experience has left me anxious and mistrusting of any medical person. I had the CT scans very quickly but since then it is as if we have been put to the bottom of the pile.

  • Hello EJ7861

I'm sorry to hear that you're still waiting for the results of the CT scan despite them having already been discussed at an MDT. It's obviously a worrying time for you.

It sounds like your GP has been supportive through this process which is a positive. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. Someitmes it can help to talk to someone about how you're feeling. If you think this may help you you're welcome to call our nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays). I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can as well as help you think about any questions you might want to raise with the Consultant when you do see them.

If you don't hear soon from the hospital team then you can always consider getting in touch with the hospital PALS team. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns when using the NHS.

I do hope you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,
