Need a little clarity over what dr has said

Hi everyone,

My mum (late 50s) went into A&E Saturday with suspected stroke. The stroke itself (thankfully) hasn't appear to do any noticeable damage...

However the Dr said they found anomalies on CT scans... I asked the dr to repeat what he. I then asked him again is he saying there is cancer in lung and mets in brain... he said yes

But I feel confused as to how he can diagnosis this... I thought biopsy were the only was to know for sure. Can anyone help me understand better?

I'm scared about loosing my mum and I am already struggling with the situation ... Google is a scary place but I can't stop looking.

Thanks for any help

  • Hello kd112,

It's difficult to clarify this as further investigation from the doctor is probably needed to make sure. I'd encourage you and your mum to ask questions at the next appointment so your concerns can be addressed. When you’re worried about cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better so it's best to stay away from that. The only person that can diagnose is a doctor.

    I hope this is helpful,
