High risk hpv left ovarian hemorrhagic cyst plus cervical ectropion

I gave birth to my third child nearly a year ago every day I would have braxton hicks and thought nothing of it then 2 weeks before I went into labour I started bleeding they said I had an irritated uterus and I had more amniotic fluid than normal I was kept in for tests and scans I had an iron transfusion they checked my cervix to see if it was dilated and they said no at first and the second or third time they said it was at maybe 1cm but it probably was like that because I’ve had kids before they sent me home 2 weeks later told me to come back if the bleeding got worse or if my waters broke when I got home and into bed the contractions were still the same but during the night they would wake me up but weren’t sore I woke up the next morning they started becoming stronger and I got up and my show came and they were strong I got to hospital and I was 8cm and I had my daughter my placenta took over an hour to come out and I specifically asked them if I could watch them check and they said yes and I asked if it was all there and they said yeah for 9 weeks after I kept getting hot and cold sweats at night and one night something was sticking to my leg and it was a huge piece of tissue I looked up my baby notes and it said I had an apparently incomplete placenta and ragged membranes, so since giving birth my periods would be extremely heavy to the point I had to put puppy pads down on my couch and I had 4 large pads on and it would still bleed through I went to doctors as I was having extreme pain during and after sex and bleeding and I was severely constipated so severe I went 3 weeks without going to toilet they said I was due my smear and she noticed a growth on my cervix which looked like an ectropion I got my results around 6/7 weeks later and I tested positive for High risk hpv with no abnormal cell changes but I was to go for a internal scan and they then found a cyst on my left ovary they said it isn’t cancerous but they want to scan me again and I got a phone call after being told they aren’t worried that they want me in for a colposcopy? Why would they want that if they’res nothing to worry about, I just think there is too much going on in the same area not to be concerned

  • Hi KirstyD1992,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the difficulties you've been experiencing with this. It's difficult to advise on why the doctors are suggesting certain things, only to say that it sounds like they are being thorough which is hopefully something to take some reassurance from.

We have some information about the colposcopy on our website, in case this is useful to look at ahead of the procedure.

I hope it's not long for you to wait for your appointment and any answers to follow.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
