Physical exam at breast results appointment

Hi,

I had a face to face appointment to go through my results from a breast biopsy. Thankfully the results were a benign breast mass. During the appointment the consultant did a physical examination. I was wondering if this is standard practice? Just wondered why it would be when I’ve already had a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy that has been discussed at the MDT meeting.

Many thanks!

  • Hello HH3

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been dealing with concerns about your breast health. It's really good to hear that the results didn't raise any cause for concern.

Examination procedures can vary for many reasons. If you're concerned about why the Consultant did a physical examination at your results appointment then you can always give the breast clinic a call and ask to talk with one of the nurses. Hopefully they will be able to give you some further reassurance.

    Best wishes,
