MRI scans waiting results

Hi all, hope you don’t mind me asking. I had a small post menopausal bleed 9 weeks and since then had transvaginal but couldn’t see thickness due to bowel gases.. was booked in for hyterroscopy for the 20th of Feb but on morning on procedure Gynocologist called to say that as my anxiety was so high, I’ve been prescribed Diazapam since all this scare happened, she didn’t feel it necessary to put me through the uncomfortable procedure. So MRI booked and done last Thursday. Spoke to Gynos secretary before MRI who said ovaries and no flowing fluid so just doing the MRI just to confirm thickness. I feel sick with worry it’s been a week now and heard nothing and don’t want to be a pest. Anyone else gone through this I was close to passing out a work today with worry. Thank you so much and sorry for the epic xx

  • Sorry that should have said 2 small bleed 9 weeks ago and nothing since xx

  • Hi, whilst my symptoms have been different, I can relate to the worry over waiting for results! I am on day 11 of waiting for mri results for a complex ovarian cyst, which is not long in the grand scheme of things - but feels like a lifetime!
Do you know how you are going to be receiving your results? I called the secretary who confirmed it would either be a letter or phone call to arrange a further appointment, and I’ve found it helpful to know that these are the options to expect. They initially said it would be around a two week wait. Hope you’re doing okay

  • Awwww thank you so much for replying and so hope you get your results soon xx was yours suspected cancer ? Secretary told me nothing sinister seen just need to confirm thickness as transvaginal couldn’t. She said about 2 to 3 weeks so I’m suspecting that if serious you hear right away or at least before that period of time, just wandering if anyone knew xx

  • I’m on the 2ww cancer pathway but the consultant said that the chances of it being malignant are low, but still feels worrying because of the ‘what if?’!
that’s good that you’ve been told it’s nothing sinister, but can imagine you’re still anxiously awaiting the results! Yeah I’m not sure about whether it’s standard to find out sooner if it’s serious, but it makes sense (I’ve been holding onto that idea haha).

I hope you hear soon so you’re not waiting in limbo too much longer x

  • So sorry I did try and reply but the system blocked my message, so big thank you for chatting, think we’re both on the referral merry go round which defo seems the hardest…. More so the waiting times. I saw my GP today as my health anxiety is at an all time high which isn’t ideal when working full time and running a family xx she’s tried to intervene to get MRI back quicker so really grateful for that. In one way it’s really good that the NHS refer us but then it’s all the waiting that seems to put us all in this state of “life on hold” I’m with you all the way on it and Thanks again for being there xx
