Skin cancer

Hi

I had a urgent referral from GP due a a patch of skin I've had for 7 years plus. Visited doctors on many occasions to be given lots of diff creams so was hugely surprised when they refered me to have photos taken with suspected cancer!!. They called me yesterday to say I need to go to hospital to see specialist but that was it! No reason why so I am thinking the worst and have constantly been on Google so convinced myself it's spread to organs! Any advise would be great as I'm really getting myself in a state! Thanks so much x

  • Welcome to the cancer chat, Suzanne44.

I'm sorry to hear about your recent experience and the anxiety it's causing you.

It's common to feel anxious and to turn to Google for answers, but try to remember that self diagnosing can often lead to unnecessary worry.

As many here can tell you, waiting for test results and appointments can be incredibly stressful, but try to take things one step at a time. It's important to stay as calm as possible and to focus on self care while you wait for more information from the specialist.

If you find yourself too worried though and feel like asking someone with a medical background some questions, feel free to ring our team of nurses. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040

Take care and remember to be kind to yourself.

    With best wishes,
