High CA125

Recently just had a CA125 test and results are really high 379!! Beside myself with worry waiting for my scan, can anyone give Amy reassurances or experiences please??

  • Hi Amy

When diagnosed, my CA125 level was over 1,000 and the CT scan showed a complex mass of 13x13 cms on my ovaries. I had a laparotomy done to remove the ovaries, womb, tubes etc. and was told at that stage that it was stage 3 ovarian cancer and also womb cancer. Both apparently primary cancers!

I then had 6 sessions of chemo followed by 4 weeks of external and 1 week of internal radiotherapy. I only had slight discomfort during chemo and had no problem at all with the radiotherapy.

This all happened 14 years ago when I was 56 years old!  and I have been fine ever since.

I’m sure things have moved even further on by now so Good Luck to you. I wish you all the best.

  • Thank you for your reply, definitely you have given me some hope even if it’s the worst outcome.
Can I ask what symptoms you experienced? My bowels have def changed, but hubby keeps trying to reassure me it’s because I’m barely eating due to the stress of it all x

  • I experienced bloating, feeling full quickly and slight weight loss. I was also peeing more often and had vaginal bleeding although with hindsight the bleeding was probably as a result of the womb cancer. I had no bowel problems so your hubby is probably right. Try not to worry too much x
