Worried about possible lung symptoms

Hi guys

I'm a 33 year old male ex smoker and current Vaper.

I've had a 3 years from he'll since a RTA in 2019, I have had a variety of unexplained symptoms and numerous tests which thus far have been clear.

most of my symptoms have been linked to the chest ( pain, palpitations) heart tests have been all clear. xrays in 2019, 2021, 2022 and a ct chest in Feb 2023 have been clear.

I've had a cough on and off for the past 2 years and recently had a wierd air hunger type feeling. it got really bad a few days ago so went to the A and E, bloods, ecg and chest xray all clear again.

these recent bout of symptoms has flared up after a viral infection but it's like the 10th infection I've had since 2023.

I'm after advise on how to proceed.

symptoms:

cough

back, shoulder and chest pain ( not constant)

bad headaches over past weeks ( much improved)

air hunger feeling like I'm not getting a good breath ( on and off)

still congested especially in the nasal area

I am understandably concerned and keep telling myself that 4 chest xrays and a chest ct around a year ago would surely pick something sinister up, But then I read horror stories of people being misdiagnosed.

Do I push the GP for another ct scan or just accept that it may be linked to the viral infection

sorry for long post, I have young children (one aged 6 months) and want to ensure I'm with them for many years to come.

  • just to add to this. I want to make a note that the symptoms have not been constant. First experienced similar symptoms in 2019 and this bout comes after 7-8 of pretty good health and an incredible holiday with nearly 0 symptoms.

  • Hello zb1990

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health concerns. It's reassuring to hear that none of the tests you've had have given any immediate cause for concern. However as things haven't improved it's understandable that you're worried.

Do make an appointment to discuss your concerns with your GP and to see if there is any further advice and support they can offer to see if your health can be improved.

I do hope things settle for you soon.

    Best wishes,
