TruCheck early cancer test

Hello,

Anyone with personal experience of taking this test.  Was it useful?  Did it find a cancer early?  How did doctors handle the information received from the test and were they dismissive?

Thanks.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat,  vicarc and thanks for posting.

It's understandable to seek insights from others who have undergone similar experiences, however, it's essential to remember that individual experiences with medical tests can vary widely. Some may find certain tests useful in detecting conditions early, while others may not have the same outcome.

Additionally, how doctors handle test results can depend on various factors, including the specific situation and the healthcare provider's approach. If you're considering a particular test, it's best to discuss its potential benefits and limitations with your doctor, who can offer personalised guidance based on your medical history and current health status.

    I hope this helps.

  • My wife and I were in the sweet spot (late 50sw) for this kind of proactive screening and decided the £1,000 cost seemed reasonable. Especially when you look at the claims like "More accurate than a mammogram" and when it comes to Prostate Cancer screening, anything better than the whole PSA probability scores. At the time (Oct 2025) this felt like getting a whole medical for the things most likely to see you off for a very reasonable price.

Anyway, today we've just come back from our local breast screening centre. The bad news is they found a  10mm Grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma - and this was confirmed by a biopsy. Next step is to sort out a treatment plan.

According to TruCheck, it should detect a Grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC). The peer-reviewed validation study explicitly confirms the test detects breast cancer CTCs irrespective of disease grade, alongside age, stage, ethnicity, and hormone receptor status. The centre said the cancer had been there for more than 6 months, and probably more than 12, so TruCheck should have picked it up.

So, was this a snake oil purchase? Trucheck are clear that a negative result doesn't rule it out — with ~6–11% false-negative rates at early stages, TruCheck must be used alongside mammography or other diagnostics, not as a standalone test.

We do kind of feel let down though - but stats and probabilities do need a mathematical mind - and probabilities other than 1 or 0 never give certain outcomes.
