Awaiting biopsy results

Hey everyone,

I have never written in a forum ever but this situation has taken over my life.

Went for a routine check up at the dentist and they found some white patches on the roof of my mouth. No symptoms as such. Mouth is always achy but put that down to me grinding my teeth, also constant ear pain and sore throat (No infection) but just got used to all.

The dentist refereed me to the hospital and the clinician suspects Lichen Planus or Leukoplakia. However, she did suggest a biopsy to be sure.

I am day 10 of the biopsy and no results yet. I am all over the place and cannot function waiting around. I think I know deep down it is okay but its the what ifs.

I dont suppose anyone else has been in a similar position?

Thanks alot Kate

  • Hello Kate

I'm sorry to hear you've recently had some health concerns and that you're now waiting for biopsy results. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be particularly difficult and it's understandable that you're worried.

Often it can help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support they can. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

In the meantime, try to keep yourself busy and avoid searching the internet for information as we know this often leaves people feeling more worried.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your results and the clinician will be able to give you some reassuring news. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
