Fluid in womb - 2 week referral for hysteroscopy

Hello,

I went to the GP about heavy bleeding etc and was referred for a transvaginal ultrasound because of my symptoms and because she could feel a “bulk” in my stomach. At the ultrasound a polyp about 15mm x 10mm was seen and also “moderate” fluid suggestive of PID. I’m 36 with 2 children and so STIs are highly unlikely. I was seen by the GP a few days later to discuss results and referred for urgent hysteroscopy. I have noted on the NHS app that she triggered the MacMillan Cancer netting and I’m now terrified of what’s going to happen. The hysteroscopy has been booked for 2 days time, but I have just started my period and often bleed heavily for up to 10 days - I’m petrified that I’m going to delay things because I’m bleeding. I’m also certain there are no STIs present and therefore can’t think/seem to find any other reason for why there would be fluid.
has anyone had anything similar? Will they still perform a hysteroscopy whilst bleeding you have had an urgent referral? Has anyone had similar initial ultrasound findings?
im feeling so worried about what they may find…

  • I was bleeding in the menopause, and had internal scans done and a hysteroscopy.

It isn’t as bad as they make out, you lie on the table and legs up as if you are giving birth.

A small camera is inserted and monitored on a tv screen.

The nurses usually chat to you to take your mind off it, have you any children etc.

If the Doctor finds anything that doesn’t look right they will take a biopsy. I didnt feel anything only a little cramping.

Then you wait for the results - I was bleeding when I had mine done, you wear a gown and they put

waterproof sheets under you. They also have a slow flow of water in your vagina so it can easily detect anything.

Try not to worry - easy to say I know - I was a nervous wreck, but was no where as bad as I thought it would be x
