Breast Biopsy - Worried Sick

Hi everyone,

I’m 38 and found a firm area of tissue in my breast just above my nipple and stupidly put it off thinking it was nothing but eventually decided to get it checked. My GP didn’t seem overly concerned but referred me to the breast clinic to get it checked. I had a mammogram and ultrasound yesterday and they confirmed a lump so took a biopsy. They said my lymph nodes looked clear which was positive but the lump was suspicious. I’m absolutely beside myself with worry especially as they said it does look suspicious. If there was any chance that it is benign would they have given me some reassurance? Has anyone been told it looks bad but then its not been?

  • Hi Bex, I'm so sorry I can't help but just wanted to say that there are a lot of suspicious lumps on the breast that turn out to be nothing and I've seen a few posts where they were told things looked suspicious but turned out to be benign. Easier said than done but try to focus on keeping an open mind. Do you know roughly when you'll get the biopsy results? X

  • Hi Dustyrose, thanks for replying. I have an appointment on Friday to get the results. I’m a nervous wreck x

  • I get it, I'm totally the same and just did a similar post bcause I'm worrying too. I was fine for a while but the longer it's gone on for, the more I think about it. At least you have a date to aim for/focus on. Keep going and try to stay busy. I'd say don't worry but that's impossible but talking about it and sharing on here is good and I hope it's helping to at least know you're not alone xx

  • Bex

welcome in my case I was told mine looked suspicious turned out it was I had a diagnosis in July 22 long time ago now but I hear your fears taje one day at a time they can’t tell until biopsy is back xx

    hood luck love Lara x

  • Thanks Lara, i’m trying to prepare myself for bad news i just hope its caught early enough. What stage was yours if you don’t mind me asking? x

  • Bex

mine was early stages , I had lumpectomy and then full auxiliary mode clearance 2 operations x

  • What size was your lump? Sorry for all the questions xx

  • I could not feel a lump just felt a heaviness webt as my friend had been diagnosed thought I was being paranoid, I had a mammogram and ultrasound and biopsy and could feel the atmosphere in the room change , I asked outright do you think I have BC and was told it looks suspicious I had a appointment for 7 days later and biopsy confirmed BC lump was 1.5 very tiny , week later I had a lumpectomy then 2 weeks later a 2 nd operation removing lymph nodes as my lymph nodes looked clear but after operation they said there were a teeny trace of a cell so had that operation but luckily they came crack all clear ,

if sounds horrific but honestly time does I was soon bs k to my normal self x

did you find a lump ?
    love Lara x

  • Yes well i wasn’t sure if it was a lump or firm tissue, but they confirmed it was a lump and said they also found another smaller lump a bit further over to the right. They took samples from both but said the positive was that my lymph nodes looked clear which i’m praying they are. I’m petrified its spread or will be a high stage.

  • Yes my lymph nodes were clear on ultrasound but on operation they contained cells but still don’t panic to much I was still only grade 2 after all that and I didn’t require chemo ,so tdy and stay positive I’m sure you will be ok , you may not even get a diagnosis when do you get your results ?
