Cleared by breast clinic but still worried.

Hello, I am 22 and just before Christmas whilst in the bath i noticed a lump at the bottom of my left breast. I left it for 2 weeks and after no change contacted my GP. The GP then referred me to the breast clinic where I was seen roughly 6 weeks later. At the appointment after being examined the doctor told me he couldn’t feel anything to be concerned about and it was probably just hormones from previously having the contraceptive implant however decided to send me for an ultrasound scan. The tech scanned one small part of my breast whilst lying on my side and I was then sent home and told it was nothing.

It’s been about 2 months since this appointment, and I can still feel the lump. I am worried incase there is something there but I don’t want to go through the process again as I left feeling a little silly last time. Should I go back to the GP or wait and see if it goes away?

I know how worried you must have felt when you discovered a lump and I'm glad your GP took it seriously and referred you to the specialists at the breast clinic. The specialists did the right thing in giving you a manual examination and an ultrasound.

The ultrasound is the best technology to use for younger women and will look to see, not only if there's a lump but also the nature of the lump and whether any lump has a blood supply.

The specialist did this and has determined that there is nothing worrying there, I would believe them, having had breast cancer myself, I can assure you that they are thorough and would not let anyone walk out if there was so much as an inkling that something is amiss.

Trust the specialists, but it's absolutely fine if you want to talk it over with your GP again in order to give you peace of mind.
