Biopsy cancelled

Hi I’ve just had a phone call to say that the biopsy of the abnormal lumps in my groin lymph nodes, which was due today has been cancelled as the doc/radiologist is not coming to work. No other appointment has been rescheduled. I’m twice a cancer patient with family history (BRCA1) of breast cancer, cervix cancer & bladder cancer. What should I do now?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Sanji.

I'm sorry to read about the cancellation of your biopsy appointment.

It might be a good idea to contact the clinic where the appointment was scheduled and ask. They may be able to provide information about rescheduling the biopsy and ensure that it's prioritised given your circumstances. Additionally, given your family history of cancer, it might be beneficial to discuss your concerns and situation with your GP as they may be able to advise on any interim measures or precautions you might take while waiting for the rescheduled appointment.

Take care, and I hope you're able to get the necessary care and support soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Renata for your sound advice. I have been trying nonstop for the last two days, to get through to the radiology dept but to no avail.I’ll defo try & make an appointment to see my gp this afternoon. Thanks again for replying. Much appreciated!

  • Quick update. Finally I had the biopsy done last Sunday & now waiting for the result. I have an appointment with the haematologist on 5th of April, so hopefully I’ll know what the lumps are. The weird thing is the radiologist told me that upon checking my previous ct scan performed in 2022 when I was admitted to the hospital with Pancolitis, those lumps were visible then. But ovi nothing was done nor was it mentioned to me at the time. Now I’m even more confused & are desperate to hear what my consultant has to say..so watch this space!
