Endometrial cancer

Hello everyone

Thank you for letting me join the group.

I've recently been diagnosed with the above cancer at 68 and it's high grade.

I had a CT scan last week to see if it's spread to my chest, pelvis or abdomen.

I have provisionally been booked in for my operation on the 21/03 on the proviso that it's not spread.

My cancer nurse told me that they're going to have an MDT meeting about the results of my scan and they'll be in touch.

An 'MDT' meeting sounds daunting and leads me to believe that the results will show that it's terminal.

They are going to tell me in a phone call whether it is or not, which I don't think is an appropriate way of telling someone.

Thank you for taking the time to read my message.

  • I always ask to be given my results by phone when I'm at home. It gives me time to process what is said before I go for my appointment. I'm then prepared to ask questions. I have endometrial cancer. I was first diagnosed in 2021, I had surgery followed by chemotherapy. I was given the all clear in 2023 but 2 months later it was back & had spread. I finished my 2nd lot of chemo which ended in January. I've just begun hormone therapy. I'm having palliative treatment so am hoping that it's kept at bay for as long as possible. Good luck with everything.  Sue

  • Hi enuffssed,

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. My situation isn't the same as yours (I alhave a rare ovarian cancer) but wanted to offer some reassurance.

From my experience, it is pretty standard to be sent for a CT scan after diagnosis, it doesn't mean they are expecting to find anything. I went through the same worries and I was fortunate that mine had not spread.

Regarding the MDT meeting, all cases will be discussed there as a means of deciding the next steps/best treatment plan - that will be for all cases and certainly doesn't mean it is a terminal diagnosis.

Hope that is a little reassuring for you - I know how hard the waiting and uncertainty is.

    Take care
