Worried

Hi

I’ve been having bleeding for almost a year now. I went to my GP who done bloods etc and sent me for a trans vaginal scan. At this scan I had a thickened endometrium slightly below which they would be overly concerned about they said so it was left to my distaste. In this time I’ve had a normal smear been given 2 different contraceptive pills to try and curb the bleeding and tranexamic acid. I had an STI test this week and another cervical check as that’s what gynaecology want to be able to be referred to them and for a colposcopy and the doctor said there is changes on my cervix but she’s not worried so I will just go through as a routine colposcopy which could take 6 months. I have in the past 2 weeks had lots of brown discharge as well as still bleeding as nothing is curbing this bleeding. I am so worried and stressed that they don’t think this requires to be seen sooner. The originally said they would put it through on the 2 week cancer pathway but now said no even with the changes to my cervix. pcos has been ruled out but now I am just stressed and feel im Not being listed to. Has anyone else been through something similar ? Thanks

  • Hello lg89,

Poor you, you've been through a lot recently! You did well to flag this with your GP but I can understand why you were disappointed that they didn't follow up on the thickened endometrium that was noticed during your transvaginal scan and that you are worried and stressed as the bleeding is continuing and you are getting also all this discharge. I wonder whether it might be worth trying to get a second opinion on this and when you speak to a different GP you could say you are concerned about this persistent bleeding and that you wanted to know whether they think you should be seen sooner and if they think in their professional expertise that there are reasons for your referral to be changed to urgent. It's definitely worth having the conversation with a different doctor about this and our website has useful tips on getting a second opinion.

I hope that you will hear from others who have been through something similar before and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
